Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (SHC/LPCH) have formally announced our bargaining team in preparation for negotiations with our nurses union, CRONA, which will commence today — Monday, January 25. The SHC/LPCH bargaining team is comprised of members from our Patient Care Management, Human Resources, and Finance teams. Additionally, we’ve received notification from CRONA that their team will include nurses from each hospital. Each bargaining team will utilize an attorney to act as their chief spokesperson.
We have also begun our contingency planning efforts. It is our responsibility to our patients, families, and community to be prepared in the unfortunate event of a disaster. And, just as we plan for earthquakes and other events that require emergency planning, our contingency planning team is working to ensure that our patient care operations are not negatively impacted in the unfortunate event of a strike. In fact, the contingency plan is a standard component of the Hospitals’ Emergency Operations Plan.
We’re looking forward to working with CRONA to develop a contract that allows us to advance our nursing practice and programs, and further establish ourselves as a leader in patient outcomes with a balanced focus on patient satisfaction, quality, and employee engagement.
